Quick Changeover

Reducing time spent in setup is likely a goal of any manufacturer that has significant setup times. Changeover reduction is a bedrock of the Toyota Production System. Reducing changeovers is often one of the keys to reducing inventory: as changeover time is reduced, smaller batch sizes become possible.

This month we feature three articles that should help you understand the methodologies behind quick changeover. First, we give you a case study in which changeover times have been significantly reduced. Our second article talks about utilizing a tool called EPEi for reduction of inventory through quick changeover. Finally, in our third article, we talk about some implementation techniques.
