Pull Systems

Pull systems are an integral part of the Toyota Production System. The JIT concept is to provide the next downstream customer with what is needed, when it is needed, and in the quantity it is needed. This is the concept behind implementing pull systems.

This month we feature three articles that should help you understand the methodologies behind pull systems. First, we give you a case study in which a pull system was put in place for an injection molding and assembly operation. Our second article talks about the basics of lean production control using pull. Finally, in our third article, we talk about a lean production planning tool we call the interval or EPEI.
