Kaizen Events

Kaizen events, popularized by Toyota, have been used successfully by some to rapidly make major improvements.  However, many have used a shotgun approach to selecting areas for kaizen events; this sometimes results in very little improvement to overall lead times and inventory reduction.  This month we will help you understand proper selection and execution of kaizen.

This month we feature three articles that should help you understand how to effectively use Kaizen events.  Firstly,  we talk about how to properly plan and conduct kaizen events.  Our second article talks about using kaizen events to improve product design for manufacturability- an exciting, yet underutilized method for making major improvements.  Our third article talks about Value Stream Mapping, a powerful tool that aids in identifying and prioritizing Kaizen opportunities.

The materials referenced in this newsletter will teach you more about the techniques and benefits of kaizen.  If the articles, links, and books to the left have piqued your interest and you would like to learn more, feel free to call us at 866-559-5598 or visit our website and click on "Contact Us."
