Lean Enterprise Overview, Part II

In our last newsletter, we focused on making a case for lean in your organization and developing a foundation for lean.   Lean is all about adding to your bottom line by eliminating waste from your organization.  There are 7 types of waste: overproduction, correction, inventory, processing, motion, conveyance, and waiting.  The best way to see the wastes in your organization is to map your value streams.  In the articles we've written for this edition,  we define lean in more detail, talk about the seven wastes, and talk about identifying value streams.

If the articles, links, and books to the left have piqued your interest and you would like to learn more, feel free to call us at 866-559-5598 or visit our website and click on "Contact Us."

In future issues of Learning to Lean, we will be covering Design-for-Manufacturability, SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Die), 5-S, Value Stream Mapping, and other useful tools and methodologies to help you eliminate waste.

Best Regards.
