Learning to LeanThe Newsletter of EMS Consulting Group, Inc. October, 2003 www.emsstrategies.com
Design for Manufacturability Welcome to the October edition of our monthly newsletter, Learning to Lean. This edition is dedicated to Design-for-Manufacturability. Any company seeking to become lean should focus on their product design and product development process. This is because 70% of a product’s cost is determined by the design. And the ability to influence the outcome of a product decreases during the product development cycle. Most organizations use the majority of their resources in product development programs after most of a product’s cost has been determined. The materials referenced in this newsletter will teach you more about the benefits of Design for Manufacturability. If the articles, links, and books to the left have piqued your interest and you would like to learn more, feel free to call us at 866-559-5598 or visit our website and click on "Contact Us." In our next issue of Learning to Lean, we will be focusing on effective use of 5S. Best Regards. Darren Dolcemascolo
