Quick Changeover / SMED System

Last month, we talked about problem solving, one of the foundations to lean.  This month we will talk about a methodology that is critical to eliminating waste and creating one piece flow: quick changeover.

This month we feature three articles about quick changeover and the SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Die) system.  First, we give an overview of quick changeover.  Next, we talk about implementing the methodology.  Finally, we talk give a case example of the application of SMED.
