Click here for online training information. Smaller Batches Through Quick Changeover Achieving faster changeovers should not be an end in itself but rather a means to achieving smaller batches. Shigeo Shingo, the man credited with developing the SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Die) system, made it very clear through his prolific writings that faster changeovers were always considered a way to build smaller batches- ultimately, to build exactly what the customer wants in the quantity that the customer wants it- just in time. In this editiion, we have three articles that deal with the techniques of quick changevoer as well as a discussion of reducing batch sizes. The materials referenced in this newsletter will teach you more about lean and six sigma.
